The Michael Hargis Show played at the San Pedro RV Resort, Benson, AZ. The clubhouse was decked out in its' best St. Patrick's day decorations, complete with miniature pots of gold. Thanks to Arlene Holcomb and her husband Ed who worked very hard going rig to rig promoting the event. We've known the Holcomb's for years. Back in 2000'ish, Arlene worked with the Chamber of Commerce in Deadwood, SD to bring The Michael Hargis show there to open for the great Chubby Checker. They closed off the streets of Deadwood and erected a 20' stage with all the bells and whistles. 3,500 people showed up. We twisted the night away!
We had a great show last night. Doc Diamond was phenomenal on the sax. Country vocalist Nickel, (Nancy Flowers), wowed them with her rendition of Patsy Cline's, "Let the Teardrops Fall". Michael always goes out in the audience before the show and chats a bit and gets a feel for the group. As usual he found someone to pick on during the show. A woman with a killer handshake received her share of attention from Michael during the show, whether she liked it or not. There were 61 guests, which is pretty good for this venue. The manager, Alice and her staff were great hosts. We also were graced with the presence of Hilda (Mom) & Randy (Dad) Smith, who are great dancers, by the way. Thanks to them for selling albums for us and bringing a group from Sierra Vista, AZ. Everyone danced the night away. It was a fun show. All the Best, Michael & Christi

Saturday night we did a 1.5 hour show for The Old Pueblo Ride. This is a group of endurance horse riders that compete with each other and the clock. Try riding a horse 25, 50 or 100 miles. I don't think so! These are a rare breed indeed. This show came to us out of the blue. Our friend, Rocky Griffin, came over to see the MCI bus (our work in progress), make his donation of 2 water holding tanks and was talking about the ride. Since he was so nice we offered him a free (pass the hat) show if he could get us some power. Within 3 hours, we had a show. When shows pop up, such as this, there is very little time to advertise. For this one, it was word of mouth. When tired people and horses are coming across a finish line there at the Cienaga Ranch in Sonoita, AZ, the last thing they want to hear is, "Go get cleaned up and get your sore rear over to a show." The show was a surprise to the riders, who came to receive awards and announcements for the next day's event. They came as they were, which was fine with us. We like out audiences comfortable and happy. We had about 40 to 45 guests at any one time. Sid (the time keeper) had 2 songs dedicated to him. The last song, ("Runaround Sue") Michael sang, "Here's Sid's story it's sad but true, about a girl that he once knew. She took his love then ran around, with every cowboy in town". When the song was over, Sid yelled out, "Hey Michael, my wife's name is Sue". Of course he had no idea, as we had never met these people before! It was quite funny. Marilyn McCoy the organizer of the event), was everywhere. She got a song and an album. Of course our friend Rocky received honorable mention. For such a small gathering, it was a really good show. They cheered for an encore and we obliged so Rocky could dance. And the tip can did OK too. We hope to see y'all next year. All the Best, Michael & Christi

Tombstone Hills RV Park Texas Hold em Tournament

We received a call yesterday morning from our friend Russ Jennings inviting Christi and I to play in their Texas Hold em Tournament held at his RV Park. We had plans to go out to dinner But hey, when Russ calls... We arrived there just before 6pm. Set up our poker table, got our 7,500 chips and sat down. 14 soles went into battle last night, but only 1 could win the war. Needless to say, it was not me. Christi did get to the money by taking down 3rd place. We donated a Chameleon Moods album to the 1st place winnings. We had a good time. Thanks for the invite Russ. All the Best, Michael

The Holiday Ramblers hit Tombstone, AZ Sunday March 1st, 2009. Six Gun City was geared up and we gave them more then they expected. Michael, Nickel and Doc Diamond alone with Christi, aka Hit it Honey, on sound brought down the House singing and playing all the Ramblers favorites. There was a Rambler nick named Nickel but, we changed his name to 50 cents. It was a great2 hour show Hope to see the Holiday Ramblers again in Nov. 2009 ralley. All the Best, Michael

Desert Gold RV Resort On Feb. 27th 2009 we had a great show in Brenda, AZ @ Desert Gold RV Resort. Only 40 ish attended But they were a very good audience. It was good to see you Sue, sorry Dean did not come. Back to Tombstone, AZ in the AM to work on the tour bus. See singing land cruiser on blogger. All the Best, Michael
